Draco approaches her with a frown and a rather curt manner. "What seems to be the problem?"

"Why, there is no problem, sir."

[dracoslytherin]

"What are you doing asking about magical people?"

[colored_gowns]

"Surely there is no harm in curiosity?" she asks, hiding amusement under a polite smile.

[dracoslytherin]

"There can be if you intend to burn my kind at the stake."

[colored_gowns]

"Certainly not! Do I appear so threatening?"

[dracoslytherin]

"No.. but that doesn't mean much. You're a Muggle, aren't you?"

[colored_gowns]

"I beg your pardon?"

[dracoslytherin]

"A Muggle - a.. human with no natural magical ability."

[colored_gowns]

She cannot help but laugh. "What an odd word!"

[dracoslytherin]

He raises an eyebrow. "Well, I didn't make it up."

Finally, he starts being polite and holds out a hand. "My name is Draco Malfoy. I'm a wizard."

She takes it daintily and dips into a curtsy. "I am Arabella Strange. I am a muggle." And she almost manages to keep a straight face while saying it.

"Apparently," he says but now looks more amused than irritated. "So why are you asking about .. magicians? You say your husband is one...?"

[colored_gowns]

"Indeed, he is. I was very curious-- most things I have heard about the magicians and wizards of this place has been, if you will forgive me, of a rather negative nature. In the interests of the good name of my husband's profession, I would like very much to learn why."

[dracoslytherin]

"Probably because some are psychotic murderers... but isn't that the same in the Muggle world? Some people are good, some people are bad...."

[colored_gowns]

"As far as I am aware, magicians are gentlemen." For her time, of course, this means more than just male, but carries all sorts of generous, gracious, and gentle connotations.
