Wow. He's certainly chatty, isn't he? She's surprised he doesn't offer a name, or any other information.

He notes her surprise, and that she isn't like his daughters, who understood his few words and loved them, even when they themselves were much more voluble, and seems almost to remember that there are other people who need more words to understand him; and says, quietly, "I don't know. It's a strange place. I'm Luther."

Leslie nods. "Yeah, looks like it." She gives him a bright smile when he gives his name. "How'd you get here?" She asks curiously.

He smiles back. He has a good, warm smile, like earth that's been under the sun all day. "I don't know," because that's better than saying to a child 'I was slain'.

Leslie smiles. She's dealt with the magic of her imagination longer than she can remember. Just in the past few months in Terabithia, she and Jess have fought giants and armies in the name of protecting their kingdom. "I will, thank you."
