Where are you?” The question was attempted again in Russian, Ukrainian, Ruthenian, and even broken French. “Hello? Can anyone tell ( Read more... )

Ken can both understand and speak her language (any of them) because of an invention he always has on him so he greets her with a happy: "Hello! This is the Mansion - exact location unknown!"

Oh dear. He looks oriental, which causes alarms to go off in her head. What if he is a Tartar?

"Who's mansion?"

He's Japanese and seems filled with boundless enthusiasm as he continues, "It doesn't belong to anyone. Or it belongs to everyone!" He grins. "All you need to do is pick a room and stay there. May I ask your name? I'm Murata Ken!"

Helen is a bit skeptical. She just came from seeing her whole family killed in a very bloody civil war.

"My name is Vasil."

She decides to keep up the charade. It doesn't sound very much like a girl's voice, but it certainly doesn't sound like a peasant's.

He's been here a while now - but he had also come from a war before that. Though you wouldn't know it by his demeanor. "It is nice to meet you!"

She looks around a little warily. This doesn't look like anything she's ever seen. "Yes. Thank you, Pan."

"Oh, just call me Ken!" He laughs. "Or Murata. Whichever is more comfortable for you."

Blink. It's a bit early to be on familiar terms in her mind. "All right, P- Murata."

Murata is his last name and he's actually more used to people calling him that so he smiles and beckons for her to follow him. "This way!"

She follows him, still on her gaurd. It doesn't look like anyone is going to jump out and attack her and there are no predators of the human or animal kind that she can see. But she is nonetheless very confused and just a little frightened (but she would never admit it.)

"This is the kitchen," he says as they step in there. "Anything you want to eat? There should be virtually anything you want in here. But.. just be careful of food left lying around as sometimes it's enchanted."

Helen hasn't eaten since the night of the attack and is starving, but only a slight stomach grumble gives that away. She has more important things on her mind.

"Witchcraft?" Was it mentioned that she is extremely superstitious?

"There are some witches here but other things as well. Demons. Gods."

A hurried sign of the cross. "Jezu Maria!""
