Out in the gardens a young man is sitting under a fir tree. He is tall, and dark haired, and handsome in a vaguely threatening sort of way.
Or at least he could be. At the moment he's looking rather too shaky to be described as threatening.
His skin has an unhealthily pale tinge to it, as if he's been deprived of oxygen recently, and he's resting his weight against the trunk of the tree, his hands loose in the shed pine needles on the ground, his breathing slow and shallow.
