After taking his time with his general appearance - making it as non-threatening as possible with basic Muggle-type jeans and a t-shirt - Draco finally ventures out of his new shared room in the mansion and heads to the main room. He glances around then takes a seat, looking nervous but trying to keep up his courage and his conviction to prove that

*Curio's never met Draco before, so he doesn't expect anything in particular when he greets the stranger with an elegant sort of bow* So many dozens dwell within this place! I fear I cannot learn the names of all--your name good sir? For mine is Curio. *grins*

He looks up at Curio, not recognising him but impressed by his politeness. He thinks that will at least make it easier for him to respond in kind. "Hello...," he puts out a hand. "I'm Draco Malfoy. Would you... like to sit down?"

*ah, hand-shaking--he does so, amused* To sit would please me, though I'll leave ere long. What sweet diversions occupy your time? *sits*

He raises an eyebrow slightly at the old-fashioned language. "Sweet diversions?" He smirks slightly. "Well, that may be spending time with my husband..."

*forgive him, he's a Shakespearean--and laughs heartily* A husband! All the world is married now, and most would wed me to their wedded ranks. Wouldst have me marry? For so runs the mode--

"That depends. Do you love someone? I hadn't been expecting to marry so soon either but I've now been married for about a year and a half. It's one thing I haven't regretted." He sounds sincere about that.

*tilts his head slightly* I have affection, but not husband's love--a joy in my Laertes and his sport ... *smile* Wherefore regret?

[dracoslytherin]

"There's too much to get into here..," he says, looking a bit uncomfortable. "Who's this Laertes? Your boyfriend?"

[hunt_theheart]

*that's fine with Curio! he hates sad things--* A friend indeed, a man of Denmark born, and beauteous as Ganymede would be, were he allowed to lose the blush of youth and take the form and features of a man. *grin--lapsing into familiar talk, since Draco seems so willing to converse* And thy husband, is he too surpassing fair?

He scoffs lightly, but there's an oddly amused fondness in his tone. "Hardly. He's quite plain."

*grin* But plainness grants a simple elegance.

[dracoslytherin]

"I didn't marry him for his looks," he adds then arches an eyebrow. "Elegance? Him?" He scoffs again then frowns in thought. "He's not completely unattractive but it's neither his looks nor his... style that attracted me."

What did attract thee, and what kept thee his? *smile* For beauty is but one of Cupid's darts, and often by his others are we struck.

[dracoslytherin]

"You know, I'm still not sure exactly. And I couldn't get any answers out of that stupid god Eros either," he frowns again, aware of how rude that sounded and continuing on, "Though I know now that I don't want to be without him. And I know he loves me. That helps."

*thinks on that answer, a grin slowly spreading across his face* For many years I have not understood why men should marry, bend beneath the yoke, and stand as cheerfully as I do free ... and yet thy love, cut to its smallest part, is that thou couldst not bear to lose thy love?

"I suppose that's part of it. I always thought that the marriage part wasn't really necessary. He asked me three times and I did say yes but later - he persisted and said he'd feel more 'secure' if we did it sooner. I have to admit though, that being married has been... the best thing that's happened to me. I have no complaints there. You don't think you can be free if you're married?"
