*Since she got a break from baby-watching today (thank goodness for grandfathers), Marian's been baking. And baking and baking some more. As a result, there are three different kinds of cookies: chocolate chip, sugar, and snickerdoodles -- along with two cakes (white and chocolate), many plates of nutbread, a few jars of jams and jellies, and some herbs. These are all laid out on a counter, which Marian is conveniently perched behind. There is a small sign near them that reads 'Take some.' And don't worry, they're not bewitched or anything, Marian just felt like making things.*
