At shore, one boy

Jim is standing at the edge of the lake, the toes of his shoes practically in the water. He's warm enough in his wool coat, though his knees are red with the chill where they stick out between his long socks and short pants. Warm enough to be thinking of the swimming again. After all, a bit of cold never stopped him and Doyler back home at the Forty Foot.

Except... Jim hasn't seen Doyler since before Christmas and he's worried. Perhaps he'd changed his mind about all that had happened between them and gone off to Clare without even saying goodbye.

He bites his lip and bends to dip a finger in the icy water. How cold can it be? More importantly, when will it be warm enough to swim again?

T: He's open to be poked by anyone, just don't push him into the lake. Well, unless you really want to and/or are prepared to deal with the smell of wet wool. XD
