So I'm running for Homecoming court. It's just kinda for fun, I don't think I'm really serious about it. In fact, I don't think I'm even going to go to Homecoming if I don't get on court.
I get to put up flyers and posters, and I want to make mine different then everyone else's. Everyone just has a picture of themself and something that says "vote for me". But I was thinking, maybe I could make some kind of political or social statement on my flyers, and get away with it, since it's a homecoming flyer and I'm allowed to put it up. For example:
Why did it take the federal government a week to respond to Hurricane Katrina?
Vote for Joaquin Effertz for Homecoming Court.
or:
Don't Use YourSpace
[crossed out MySpace logo]
But DO vote for Joaquin Effertz for Homecoming Court.
I wonder if I could get away with it. Also, if I do get on court, apparently everyone gets a short theme song at the Homecoming assembly. I want mine to be A Moment of Silence by Streetlight Manifesto, since it stands up for losers and completely goes against the whole Homecoming popularity contest thing.
