summary; Buffy comes to visit Andrew at the hospital.
Hospital life had become boring so swiftly that Andrew couldn't imagine it being any other way. The food, the complete lack of anything on the television, the fact that something would startle him awake if he tried to sleep during the day.
The worst times were when Jonathan went to work. Andrew could entertain himself, of course; he had about a hundred years of fragmented pop culture to catch up on, and when he had time to himself he usually spent it watching media on his laptop. But he was so used to having Jonathan at his bedside that his absence was palpable no matter what Andrew did.
That was why Andrew was so glad of visitors, even if his doctor never seemed to be; Warren was there a lot, of course, and Aya, and Rube Sofer (which had been strange) and all the other friends he had made in Babylon. And today, Buffy. Andrew had asked his favourite nurse to keep an eye out for her; he was determined to be awake when she turned up, this time. He was sitting up in his bed, the soft hospital pyjamas hiding most of his extensive bandages. When the nurse poked her head in the door he readied his best everything-is-absolutely-fine smile and put down the comic he'd flicked through a hundred-odd times already. "Buffy! Hi!" Andrew said.
