The fact that Luca still didn't have a permanent place to live worried Desmond, and likely would until Luca did find an apartment to call home. It wasn't as if he could interject any help directly; he knew Luca wanted to search without a tag-along. Despite that, Desmond still felt the desire to do something to help the situation, even if it was only a small gesture, something to make Luca smile.
Desmond opted for a way to prove that he cared about Luca's heritage: an offering of a compliment in Luca's native tongue. Obviously Desmond knew little of the Romanian language, but after a thorough online search he finally decided on a phrase he liked, one that he hadn't really voiced to Luca before simply because he wasn't altogether comfortable saying something like this in public. Saying it privately to Luca online or in person was much easier than saying it on a crowded street or in a packed building.
In the back of his mind Desmond hoped he wouldn't offended Luca with his efforts; the last thing he wanted was to appear disrespectful of Luca's roots because that just wasn't true at all. He knew how important Luca's family and heritage was to him, and because of that, Desmond wouldn't dream of doing anything to belittle that. Hopefully Luca realized that, at least enough to know that Desmond wasn't trying to offend him with his words of praise.

So, if I wanted to say 'Eşti foarte frumoasă' to someone, how exactly would I pronounce that? Unless you know a better way for me to phrase it instead.
