After a long time of passively hunting, I finally was able to acquire a copy of the book The Command To Look: A Formula For Picture Success by William Mortensen. I won an eBay auction for it last week and it arrived this weekend.
I've been looking for this tome LONG before I ever even got involved in photography... I first heard about it probably back in 1991 or 1992, and wanted a copy then. The reasons and an explanation of the same would take way too long to type, but I will give two clues... #1. Lavey. #2. There's a reason I used Gandalf as my user pic for this post.
For those who've figured it out and/or know the details, 'nuf said.
If you don't know what I'm babbling about and are curious, collar me sometime in person or zap me a message and I'll explain in more detail.
Less importantly, but on a related note, I also was able to get The Model: A Book on the Problems of Posing and Print Finishing, two more photography books also by William Mortensen.
I will be incorporating the techniques from The Command To Look as best as I can, incidentally... into my photography and elsewhere. Should prove to be interesting....
