Last night my friend Anna took me out for a late birthday celebration of posh martinis at the conservatively tasteful Drake Hotel. It's one of those 'old world' establishments that prides itself on overuse of marble, velvet, and ginormous chandeliers over intricately patterned carpets. This is good place to have cocktails (and feel very young at the same time). While we were there, a huge convention of Canadians were milling about and drinking in the Palm Court. Why were there Canadians? Who could say. They travel in packs like geese. Coincidentally, I took that time to tell Anna I was moving to Toronto. I'm not really moving to Toronto, but I figured it would be fun to talk about, as she's been there and I have not. I must say, though, I really would like to move to Toronto, because I think it would be fun. Also, I like streetcars and cities on lakes that pride themselves on being 'international.' Strange thing about Toronto, it's like Chicago but east and west instead of north and south. Anyway, I digress. I will be moving to Toronto if I don't get a job interning for Minty Fresh Records. A representative from Minty Fresh was at my school's Performance Art Expo today, and I proceeded to outline why I would be the perfect candidate for virtually any position that needed filling:
1. I love the band Komeda. I mean, really love (and Tahiti 80, and The Cardigans)
2. I speak Japanese. They have a Minty Fresh Japan label.
3. I've got the best resume ever.
4. I'm down with the PR and gots teh mad language skillz.
5. Integrated Marketing Communication.
Also, I handed over my demo. So I could become a rock star intern.
