ARGHHH!

May 28, 2006 00:09

So, yeah. I don't know where to start. Let's see... last week my allergies were really bad, and then the first part of this week I spent sick and I went to the doctor. I got good medicine, and so now I'm better. Yay!

This week (that's ended) and next week (just beginning) all my shifts have been 2:30-11pm. Even Saturday! What happened to those days when George would schedule me for Saturday morning? :( And actually, according to someone's counting errors, I was supposedly scheduled for 40.5 hours this past week (although I can't get that when I add it up. I get 40.) So this week, on Sunday, I work 2:30-10:30pm, making the computer count 40 hours. I don't care. I just wish I could get some midday shifts. I also wish I could spend this weekend (Memorial Day) with family. But I have to work. :'(

Last night my mother-in-law calls Brandon and asks him what we're doing today (Saturday.) Like everyday, we're working in the afternoon and evening. My mother-in-law is like, "well, Mike leaves for basic training on Tuesday and we wanted to all get together and eat out, so we'll get mom (Ada) and come up to visit you all and eat in Lexington." Brandon tells me this and I'm like, my mother-in-law just invited herself over. >:( But, I can live with that, just as long as they get here at a decent time because I have to work. (Especially since Michael will be gone for 3 months.) So I have to put my cleaning into overdrive. I wasn't expecting house guests until June 2nd, when Kathy and Jennifer might stay over. I get the cleaning done, and Brandon asked Linda and them to get here as close to 11am as possible (so we can all visit properly.) Of course, silly me, they can't possibly get there until 1pm. I had to be at work at 2:30pm.

So I took my shirt with me, and we went to Tumbleweed on Clays Mill Rd. OMG, it's the WORST mexican restrurant EVER. They charge premium prices for their steaks, and then their salsa is cheap and gross. Chips and salsa are a first impression of the food. This salsa was probably made with Value Time spaghetti sauce and had a few strange bits added to it. Value Time spaghetti sauce is a close cousin to ketchup, and I only know the texture and taste of it because I made the mistake of buying it last time we needed spaghetti sauce. Terrible! Thank goodness the meal was good. Our waiter was timid though. So Tumbleweed = expensive prices and bad salsa. Don't go there.

So after that experience, Brandon and his family drops me off at work. Brandon and Linda later drive back to Meijer and drop off my car so I can get home later (Brandon doesn't leave Starbucks until 12:45am.) Work was fine, but that leads me to my next problem.

Richard.

This guy is an idiot! I can't stand him! First, he's devoid of personality and a sense of humor. Second, he somehow picked up somewhere that he can micromanage me. What the... ? I was hired before him and have seniority over him. He has no business questioning me or telling me what to do! A couple of weeks ago, I was training a new hire and was trying to write a raincheck for a customer, and he comes over and he's like, "is that for a buy one get one free?" I started to say, "No Richard..." and he's all "if it is you HAVE to put double the amount in the quantity part and blah blah blah." I stop him and say "I KNOW what I'm DOING Richard. Leave me alone." And he wonders off.

He seems so concerned with what I'm doing. I was working uscan tonight, and for the last couple of nights, since I was there until 11pm, we kept Uscan open a half hour later. Tonight he was pushing carts. He brings in a load and he asks when I go home. I tell him. He brings in the next load (it's about 10:50pm) and he says, "hey Desiree, you were supposed to close uscan at 10:30pm! They always close it then." I then proceed to tell him that Heather (the team leader) wanted me to keep it open until 11pm, and I will close it when she asks me to, not when he thinks it's a good time. It's just so annoying because he has to concern himself with my job and what I'm doing and he doesn't seem bothered by the fact that he's being extremely nosy and annoying!!!

The other day, he decided my name was too hard to say. He asks if I have a nickname. I think to myself "there's no way you're calling me Desi." I tell him no, I'm just Desiree. He seems frustrated by the whole three syallbles in my name, and without any prompt of mine, says "I'm going to start calling you Desi or something." He hasn't yet, but when he starts that, I'm changing his name to Dick.
