Dean’s got a toothbrush hanging out of his mouth when he bursts back into the living area of the motel room. Sam and Gabriel had been arguing, which really wasn’t unusual Dean thought, especially when that asshole was involved. But the bright flash of light and unearthly scream had Dean immediately on guard and reaching for a weapon.
The first thing he notices as he lowers his weapon is the lack of Gabriel, followed by the blood dripping down Sam’s wrist from where it has been slammed against a bloody banishment sigil. The look on Sam’s face is vaguely pleased, although his mouth is still set into a thin line.
“Sam?” Dean’s tone is mild, and Sam starts violently as if he’d forgotten Dean had been in the bathroom rather than out doing whatever.
“Don’t ask.” There’s no room in Sam’s voice for argument, so Dean shrugs and goes back to brushing his teeth.
--
Castiel appears in the motel room hours later with a fluttering of invisible wings and the usual stony-faced look. Gabriel can see that he takes in the confined area with a single glance before he turns his attention to the archangel, who is artfully reclining against the pillows in the middle of Sam’s bed. He can also tell that Castiel sees through it in a moment. The archangel seems very self-satisfied, not unheard of when it comes to himself, he’s not afraid to admit, but he’s aware that the hard line of tension running almost angrily across his shoulders belies his relaxed position
Gabriel waves a lazy hand in greeting but says nothing, it’s not like he has to. He does sit up however, swinging his legs over the side as Castiel opens his mouth.
“Gabriel, this is Sam’s choice. You cannot make it for him.”
“I can damn well try. I’ll stick him in a time loop again if I have to.”
Castiel doesn’t respond as at that moment the door to the motel slams open. Framed in the doorway is a very pissed off looking, and decidedly very naked Sam Winchester. Castiel politely averts his eyes as Sam stalks past him without a word and slams both hands down on Gabriel’s shoulders, pushing him backward onto the bed.
“Hiya, Sammy,” Gabriel’s voice is near vicious as he grins with all his teeth, “did you miss me?”
“You used your freakin’ mojo on me. You set me out in the middle of the town. Naked.” Sam’s shaking with indignation and anger, and Gabriel’s grin grows wider if possible, “There were children around, Gabe.”
Gabriel shrugs, unrelenting and unapologetic. As Cas flickers out of existence between one human breath and the next, Sam growls low in his throat and pins Gabriel to the bed with practised ease. He’s practically vibrating with rage, and Gabriel’s sure he should probably be as irritated as Sam, the kid banished him for Dad’s sake, but he can’t help the heat the curls low in his belly and knows Sam can feel him getting hard against his stomach.
“Don’t you ever do that to me again,” Sam snarls under his breath and bites down at the juncture of Gabriel’s neck and collarbone, causing a sharp intake of breath from the archangel who stiffens under the touch. He pulls at Gabriel’s shirt, more Sam’s shirt that is worn from use, until the material simply tears under pressure.
Sam gives a slight yelp of surprise when Gabriel flips him over, and there’s a pause as the archangel gives him a measuring look before a smirk spreads lazily across his face.
“Sammy, Sammy, Sammy,” Gabriel mocks, knowing how much Sam hates the nickname, “did you forget? I may be short, but I’m far more powerful than you.”
“Gabriel,” Sam gasps as Gabriel leans down and begins to lick at the column of his throat, “Shut. Up.”
For once, Gabriel listens.
