it's all the same, nothing ever changes, the long days, the ten cent raises..

they say you don't get sunsets like that everywhere
they say nowhere else can begin to compare
they say because of the landscape of this place
they say mountains hinder the given grace

i say it's all perception; see what you want
i say you don't send that postcard merely to taunt
and who is to say you don't get sunsets like that everywhere
been said time and again, life is unfair

sunset or not, i see a something gleaming in the distance
only leads you to question existence
as far as the horizon takes the naked eye
where the water meets the sky, proportions have gone awry
you're the single sunset that stands out in realization
you're the single sunset that induces the sensation

they say you don't get things like the two of us everywhere
they say nobody else together can begin to compare
they say the two of us, we've got something
they say the two of us, we ought to preserve this fling

[written prior to attending school in the early morning hours peering through posted snapshots credited to my absolute favorite photographer; and when i came across an extraordinary sunset, i recalled the time when someone dear to me once said you don't get sunsets like that everywhere, in reference to the sunshine state, florida]

and on a side note
spoke shortly with someone today, rushed dialogue amongst the hallway backdrop, something that was provoked by whim, and said in truth what i felt, no harness

don't know your thoughts, but for this i am glad
