So I essentially love the fact that the Democrats now have control of the House of Representatives and the Senate for the first time since something like 1994, if I have my dates correct. Republicans lost six of the seats that they had up for reelection, and Democrats took them. Virginia was the longest, but Allen conceded like an intelligent human being and we claimed that one too. On the note of my own state, I am disappointed that my very own state has more Republican Representatives than Democrat, but not really surprised. I know my state, and therefore know that Republicans generally get better support downstate. The fact that we also voted yes for Proposal Two just... it pisses me off, I admit it. And that's all I'll say on that particular subject because it really makes me twitchy.
The not-so-happy part are the states who put up anti-gay marriage amendments and passed them. Such as Wisconsin, Tennessee, Virginia, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Idaho. Colorado gets my special point; because they not only banned gay marriage. Oh no, they also banned domestic partnerships to boot. Remind me that I never ever want to move there or even visit, no matter how pretty it is. Because it seems that all that pretty-ness and skiing affects the brain in no way that is good. Fucking bastards. Yes I am irritated, but I like politics and I get passionate about things like this.
In other news - Cyndi and Ashlee were hanging out in my room for the past few hours and it was hilarious. Because we just talked about weird things. Like high school scheduling, first kisses, etc. etc. Then what Cyndi learned in RAD. And when Missy was in here, Ultimate Frisbee and shoe sizes came in. It was totally random, kept me from studying, and I loved it. Got my mind off of all that political bullshit.
School-wise: I have decided on a second minor in addition to Environmental Conservation. And that would be Social Welfare. Ashley suggested it first, but I kinda hemmed about it. Then I looked at it and decided that she was right, it would do me a lot of good with my Political Science major. So yeah, there it is. But one of the classes necessary for it; SW100 Exploring Social Work, is on Wednesdays and goes from 6:00 p.m. to 9:20 p.m. So yeah, I'll not only be in a class for over three hours straight, and be late for every Pagan Moon meeting. But it's okay, I'll be fine. Yes.
