Light Sleeper

Alright, so today. After I finally managed to get Lee out of bed (some prompts work better, by the way) we went to lunch with Jorie at the MP. We discussed possibilities of what to do for the day, and decided that going to Subway to retrieve my phone (which I had accidentally left there last night) would be first, followed by a trip to the Marquette "mall". Now this place is a gathering of stores, but it does not satisfy what I view as minimum requirements to be a true mall. There are a few stores I enjoyed going in, but overall, it's not that great a place. Had a good time and all, Lee and Jorie played on a teeter totter and there was a store with hard candy I haven't seen in years, but it's not a real mall.

We then decided to go and see if we could locate Alder Falls and Yellow Dog River Falls. Of course, we couldn't, the directions were all wonky or we were totally missing a few vital steps. What I love about the UP does not equal its tendency to not label the roads, or label several consecutive ones as the same exact thing. We were in Big Bay by the time we decided that we had indeed missed the turn-offs, so we decided to just go and see Big Bag Lighthouse. Lee hasn't seen it before, and it's a haunted lighthouse, so seeing it when you're close is one of those things that you just have to do. It was colder than it had been before, and my hands were like ice by the time we left. Before we left we explored the grounds and found a now-dead tree that looked as if it could have easily been used as a hanging tree. And there was a woman who hung herself there... there was also this plot of land that was the right width and length for two burial plots; complete with a space of sand just right for headstones. It looked like it had been overturned in the past three years, or nothing grows there. I, being special like I am, decided to see if anything would happen if I laid down on them. It. Was. Fucking. Creepy! Remind me to not do that again.

Upon arriving back in Marquette (without locating any of the waterfalls) we had dinner at a rather crowded Taco Bell, went to Michaels (where Lee and Jorie predictably geeked out over all of the art stuff), then to GameStop. And when we were there I turned into the geek and bought, are you ready?, Tamagotchi for the GameBoy (first edition, not even color) along with Pokemon Red. Yes, yes I am rather serious here. I did it. I bought it, and I'm going to go back to playing it just as soon as I finish this and Sorting over at H_E. They were only five dollars altogether, so it's not like I paid a lot. I have that Ice Blue Gameboy to use, after all. And, when we were leaving GameStop, this little demon girl with pigtails decided that it would be a good idea to whack Jorie's car with her itty bitty purse. So, we pulled up next to her and Jorie blasted the horn. She went all wide-eyed and 'aaahhh'... hope she wet herself. Little children can be such pains in the ass.

Conversation of the Day:
Lee: Just go up it! (referring to a hill)
Me & Jorie: No!
Lee: Awww, why not?
Jorie: Because my car can't do that.
Me: Because it would be bad if the car broke.
Jorie: Yes, I would be very sad.
Me: That, and we'd be stranded in Big Bay. At the Big Bay Lighthouse. At the Big Bay Haunted Lighthouse!!
Jorie & Lee: Ohhhh...
Me: Yeah, not cool.

freakin' sweet, game, going on an adventure bbl, season: autumn, friends, omgwtfbbq?, conversation, goddess i'm such a geek
