Our previous presentiment of the American Red Cross has been proven true. After skipping sleep once we arrived, we found that the Astrodome is a total clusterfuck. Mostly because there were so many people off work who decided to volunteer, but Christ. The organization is so horrible that they'd be better off with a quarter of the people. They'd have less of a mess.

The Astrodome floor is totally spread with cots, where thousands of refugees desperately await medical care. From what a nurse has told us, it's taking days at a time to get to patients, people are going crazy and sick without medication that they have to stand in line for hours to find has run out. On the fourth floor, cots lie in the hallway with mothers holding children, sick elderly, bored kids, and anyone else who happens to have been sent there, all of which carry a pathetic expression of defeat. None of the staff has any idea what's going on.

Anyway, I gave a lady at Office Max all of my money so she could put together her resume to find a job, as she taught at a New Orleans school, and her local credit union is down and out. She was nice and having a hard time, as could be expected. Hopefully we'll be making a bit more of a difference when we don't have to wade through a hoard of cattle to do so. I'd love to continue supposrt on an individual basis, though. Go back to work, Houston, we've got it covered.

Oh yeah, we went clubbing tonight. I danced to urban music. After a long, hard day of saving babies and sleep, we felt the need to reward ourselves.

No pictures yet.

And and and and we may be able to make our way into New Orleans sooner than I thought. It was only a couple months since I was last there, and it'll be pretty wierd.

The End.
