It's pretty much official now...there's no more room for hope...
I am shocked. I am just completely and utterly taken aback. To me, this wasn't about a partisan thing, this wasn't an 'oh I'm a Democrat and I hate all Republicans so say no to Bush'. No. This was the real deal. This was about the moral character and leadership abilities of the person that controls all of our fates.
I am shocked that this country chose to elect someone who stood by and let the biggest terrorist attack on American soil take place on his watch because of his carelessness.
I am shocked that this country chose to elect someone who, instead of pursuing the attackers responsible, chose to occupy an oil-rich country under false pretenses, lies, and more lies.
I am shocked that this country chose to elect someone who in 4 years has managed to take the biggest budget surplus and turn it into the biggest debt in history, shitting away over 5 TRILLION dollars.
I am shocked that this country chose to elect someone who has managed to break foreign ties that we have been building for years, and turn the entire world against us.
I am shocked that this country chose to elect someone who has below average intelligence and does not even hold a firm grasp on the English language.
I am shocked that this country chose to elect someone who has outsourced more jobs to foreign countries and continually gives breaks and money to huge corporations and HMOs while the people just get poorer and poorer.
I am shocked that this country chose to elect someone who controls this country by fear. It used to be that we had nothing to fear but fear itself...now fear has become the driving force for this country's destruction.
I am shocked that this country chose to elect someone who is moving this country backwards instead of forwards. Someone who threatens 500 years worth of women's rights. Someone who continues to spew hate and restrict the civil and moral rights of homosexuals because they are not like him.
Basically, I am shocked that this country chose to elect someone who goes against everything that this country is supposed to stand for. There is no freedom of speech here...you are called unpatriotic if you speak your mind. There is no oppertunity and equality for all...the income gap keeps widening, the poor keep getting poorer, and the rich keep getting richer. There is no freedom of religion...Bush says Christ is the only real king and savior. There just is no freedom. Period.
This had long ago stopped being a Democarts versus Republicans game for me. This was about the unraveling and destruction of what is supposed to be the beacon of freedom and oppertunity in the world. The beacon has burned out... and so have my beliefs that this contry runs on a Democracy.
I am more scared than I have ever been in my entire life.
