I suddenly have a ton of alone time, so I decided to start using LJ. Gotta fill this emptiness somehow, what better way than to rant and rave via internet? Haha.
So, yesterday I had nothing else to do so I helped Lisa move Eric from his dorm at USF to the other side of town. What an adventure...my nerves were frazzled by the end of the day from driving in SF, and I wasn't even the one driving (thank God.) The highlight of the day was Sushi Boom, a sushi place Eric took us to eat. GOOD stuff. The only problem, we all agreed, was that sushi and beer should have waited until we were done, because we had to move full and tired.
So, after driving back to San Jose Lisa and I somehow caught a second wind (either that or she pretended to being the "older sister" she is to me). Two options: a Martinez family party or a bar. Decision: bar. We walked down to the Claron, and upon hearing ear-splitting karaoke decided not to go in. So we went into Blinky's next door, and so started adventure #2 of the day. The bar was horrible. The bartendress was more drunk than any of the customers. After telling her what we wanted twice, we finally got our drinks and sat down at a table, where we laughed at ourselves for having bad date status awkward conversation, and were then approached by a very large piece of white trash who thought he could pick up on younger women by telling stories of being a bouncer and letting underage girls in because they were pretty. Nice. I am now interested in you. We closed our tab ( only after watching the drunk bartendress get in a nearly physical fight with her manager) and went back to the Claron to see if it was any better.
Here, we did begin having fun both because more drinks were into our system and because we had quite an array off entertainment. The first character was some guy who knows Sarah, therefore knowing the Martinezes. He decided the best way to befriend Lisa was to speak about Eric's gayness bothering him. Lisa was polite. I, on the other hand, let him know that there are a lot of gay people who obnoxiously advertise themselves and that Eric is not one of them, and when he made a comment about not wanting to stick his foot in his mouth I politely let him know it was already there. Some people just bug the shit out of me. I was later thanked by Lisa. Character # 2 seemed like a cool enough guy, but the next half hour was taken up by him trying to pick up on Lisa, and me quietly drinking myself to happiness. Soon enough Lisa tired of him, however, and we headed out.
I thought we were going back to Lisa's, but she had decided tonight was the night she was going to brave the Hut again. This and her extreme talkativeness on the way there told me she was as buzzed as I was. Here was another interesting crowd. Naturally, the night she and I chose to go there was a Santa Clara reunion, so we got to enjoy laughing at the dancing 30+ year olds who hadn't let go of their college days. It was soon closing time and we left.
So where does three bars, a Jack and Coke, Gin and Tonic, Vodka Cranberry, and Hef get you? Hopping a wall at Santa Clara to pick roses in off-limits church grounds. Lisa crawling in the grass was the highlight of my night. GOOD TIMES!
