While shopping for Francie’s birthday gift, I also picked up a few things for myself. A copy of Vanity Fair, and a copy of Mansfield Park, as well as Anne Rice’s new novel, Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt. I’m not terribly excited about the last one there, but I figure I should give it a shot at least.
I also picked up a copy of Come on Feel the Illinoise by Sufjan Stevens, and Speak for Yourself from Imogen Heap (part of the group Frou Frou). Oh, and I had a nice piece of grilled salmon for lunch. That was nice.
Barry is currently on his way home, since he has to be to work pretty early tomorrow. Until today I was operating under the assumption that he went in on the weekends occasionally for the extra pay. It turns out that it's actually volunteer work that several of the surgeons and other nurses that he works with do once a month. Sort of a pro-bono surgery situation for people who can't afford it. I'd be the biggest asshole in the world if I was annoyed at him for cutting our weekend short so that some poor person can have their appendix removed or whatever.
I'm going to spend my saturday evening curled up on the couch with a book, I guess. I'm a bit behind on my reading thanks in part at least to how dreadfully boring I'm finding Wonder Boys to be. I'm sure my next book will be an easier read.
Oh! And some of you may have noticed that I changed my username. I never really wanted to go by Cipher Savant anyway, since it doesn't really mean anything to me, and only made the cut because it didn't have any numbers in it. I removed myself from everyone's "Friend Of" list, becuase I had several folks who had either abandoned their accounts, or who just refused to un-friend me. Since they couldn't be bothered, I took care of it myself. Sorry for the confusion.
