We're all the same, the men of anger and the women of the page

So how about English today and Ms. Jenkins completely flipping a bitch? That was almost as much fun as the busywork in social anthropology. Not cool. Easy classes should stay easy. A class isn't any less of a joke because the teacher suddenly decides to "get tough" - it's just a joke class that everyone starts bitching about. Low expectations at the start of the year lead to poor or simply undone work; if the teacher really wants the students to have respect for the class, they should set those expectations initially instead of desperately trying to raise respect midway through the year. Yes, we're lazy, and yes, it's partially our fault, but it's also partially the teacher's fault, since teachers set the tone of the classroom. I can cite multiple examples of subjects being transformed by a teacher. I personally find it more difficult to motivate myself to do the work for a class if I do not have respect for the teacher. (And to some of you, don't yell at me about "personal responsibility," since I actually DO the work in the overwhelming majority of cases, including today's English incident - even though I have little respect for the class.)

I think that I have reasonable evidence behind my opinion; however, it is still just an opinion. If you disagree, feel free to say so politely.

(P.S. I REALLY like Virginia Woolf.)
