"I studied the most influential scientists and inventors to learn what made them different from ordinary people and discovered that the most creative people in the world scored lower than expected in SAT and IQ tests and most only earned high school diplomas."
-Philip Emeagwali
so, a high psat score or sat score doesn't make u a shoo-in 4 ivy league colleges...yes, it increases ur chances, but it doesn't guarantee u a spot... n even if u do get in 2 that skool of ur dreams-who's 2 say u'll succeed in life based on ur scores? so beware of those artsy, mediocre students- they might surprise u 1 day when they become world-renowned/successful individuals, while all u'll hav is a high SAT score and possibly an associate degree from (insert ivy league skool)...
now don't get the wrong idea... i am very proud of all of our skool's national merit semi-finalists, but boasting has its limits. U all deserve 2 brag about ur accomplishments, but not 2 the point of embarassing others who might not have done so well... (i witnessed such a sad event) I am NOT ashamed of getting in the 190's because I know that's not all what colleges look at and I know it is not an accurate representation of my abilities. Harassing an individual about their scores so u can compare urself 2 them, well, is quite simply WRONG. I want those finalists 2 noe/understand that because u got a higher score than someone else, does not make you more intelligent or any better than the other individual... especially if u r comparing urself 2 someone who's already attained merit status =P. Ridiculous! Be proud of ur 226 or 220 because u proved urself a talented test-taker, but don't be proud u beat (insert kid's name)'s 223... On the same token, don't be sad u didn't reach that (insert kid's name)'s 234...
Basically, be grateful 4 all of life's little surprises... sometimes fate has its ways of making u feel gr8 n other days it'll disappoint u beyond belief- but u shud b able 2 come out of every situation smiling.
