So, an associates in Accounting from the local technical school will be upwards of 10k after I figure books. Two years, the estimated credit costs only go as high as 12 credits/term and the program has 14-18 credits per term. I have a B.A in theatre and they're somehow letting me work in accounting with no experience in it whatsoever. go figure.
A certification of some kind is definitely helpful.
If you get an associates and then a job in accounting somewhere, a lot of places (around here at least) will pay for your schooling if you want to continue on and get a Master's.
I keep tossing that one back and forth with myself, as my company is willing to pay for it. i just dislike school, so kudos to you.
My math skills are sucky. I'm finding out that accounting is mostly common sense and a calculator.
All of the classes that you're looking at taking are actually ones that were recommended to me to study when I first started. Accounting principles and Cost accounting will definitely be useful.
Excel skills are apparently also useful. specifically for accounting ,VLookups and Pivot Tables are very useful skills to have that apparently a lot of people don't know.

I'm just hoping this works out and I'm not wasting money. Part of why I'll get the certificate first so that I can start looking for an accounting job sooner and with less money put into this little venture.
