Or at least it felt like that today. I can't tell really. I was at work later than normal. Usually I run about 10.5 hour days but today was more of a 12 hour day. exactly 12 hours actually. Not that I'm complaining. It was a really good day and I felt good about it. Mind you, I still haven't done the shop so I'm reduced to eating cereal for dinner until I manage to get to one. Nothing like cereal, almonds and a banana for dinner. Mmmmmm....
I guess that means I might finally be ready to finish this thing and start writing up. Yeah me. I did start writing last year but had to write a fairly extensive report just as I started writing so that made a mess of a bit of it for me. But now it's time to get back on it. When I'm not in the lab until 8:30.
I know its all supposed to be good for me and a growing experience, but I think that I've grown enough of this place and especially some of the people I've worked with. They're still here. PhD in hand and they are still a technician. Don't really know why you would go through all that work and effort only to remain a technician. You don't get a pay rise or anything. And she does want more projects and she does want more publications, but it's not going to happen while she's a technician. Or at least, not as quickly. She has two other technicians who also do projects so she doesn't get to take all of them for herself.
I still like working early mornings and late evenings. If I could, I would work only early morning and late evenings so I could avoid my coworkers. It's not that I don't get along with them. Get along great with ES and we even work great together, but wow, do I ever get more done when they aren't around. Besides, the music comes on and I'm happy dancing and singing and working alone in the lab.
Embarrassing every once in a while when a friend is also working late and comes into the lab and views this spectacle.
Fortunately that has only happened once or twice.
And now, it's time to curl up and relax a bit and catch up on emails in bed in pyjamas. :-)
