Teevee!

So I've watched all the TV in the last day or so and actually have reactiony thoughts:

SPN
Goodbye, Bobby. That was sad. Writing-wise, though, there was nothing too incredible going on. They still need to work on pacing and moving the action along. There was no real sense of building action, Roman's death was easy and unimpressive, and I dunno, maybe I need a rewatch, but it seems to me the writers sort of phoned it in. Um, the little girl thing was creepy and having her take off her dress was perhaps unnecessary. If they needed to objectify someone, it should have been an adult. I am worried about Meg, who is still one of my favorite villains, and the ending looks like it could either be really promising or sadly tedious. It really depends what Cas and Dean have to do in there to survive; they could fight monsters the whole time or do cool things like learn more about each other and themselves somehow (yes, while fighting monsters; I know that's a given). I hope we see old guest stars and monsters Sam and Dean have vanquished, but I also hope Sam and Dean get back together very soon, since for me the show is at its best in their interplay.

Grimm
Just gotta say, that reveal scene with Nick and Juliette was really unsettling. He stopped paying attention to her reactions and got absorbed in sharing everything with her--too fast. It was like he was relieved to finally be able to share this part of himself with her and just went way, way overboard. I kind of love him for wanting to share, but something about that scene just left me feeling sick. Continuing to love the show and may rewatch, but it's going to be rough having that unresolved over the summer. (That is the last ep, right?)

Grey's Anatomy
Dude, that was wrenching. I will really miss Lexie, and I feel it moreso through the eyes of all the characters who loved her. The scene with Meredith crying just.... Yeah. And the end, with the gum split in half. It's interesting to follow Meredith and Cristina's negotiation of what it means to be someone's person, which is a theme running throughout the show of course. I read an article saying the writer doesn't even know what exactly will happen in the premiere, which might be what lends this ep some of its oomph--who will go where, how will people decide to stay? Very tense episode, felt like a series ender, actually.

As usual, I love the action, the fight scenes, the car chases. Danny's problem with Rachel and his daughter has been well-hashed out in fanfic, and his custody issues are a perennial concern on the show. It feels kind of worn. Kono's affair with the Yakuza guy seemed a little ooc. Why did she think that would be a good idea? The Steve/Danny stuff is excellent as usual. After that surf-buddies scene a few eps back, I'm kind of going with them being together as my personal canon. Will never get tired of them bickering. Will miss this show over the summer!

In personal news, I passed my oral exam on Friday and just need to clean up a few areas of my thesis before graduating. I'm also finishing some coursework this week, which I'm looking forward to since I get to queer Casablanca for a paper. Good times.
