We got back from the land of enchantment today...
*120+ pounds of Chile!!!* I think we roasted about 1/6th of it tonight.... gack we do need a roaster.
Mom is a regular lady grizzly adams: she has a baby skunk family that was visiting her. They would eat the outside cat's food on the front porch. We got to see the last baby skunk last night :D I think the others got ..er.. caught in my cousin' s hay bailer. Poor babies (not intentionally of course!!!! It was an accident!)
We went to the Hatch Chile festival. Apparently there were thousands of ppl who came on Sat due to the Food Network having a show about it. We missed the crowds and went on Sun. I was expecting it to be upgraded from the previous festival I attended about 10 years ago. But, no. Ahh those small towns! I think it would be great if Hatch could be like Sedona. It is a crazy idea, but Hatch has historical buildings and is situated in a hilly picturesque valley. Ppl there like their little town and dont see the dilapidated buildings or the junk in ppl's front yards, tho. They just want their small town and to make a living. I understand Hatch not wanting to become like Phoenix, the land of *horrible* development. But like I said- Hatch could do it like Sedona and it would be great. Ok none of you have been to Hatch. The whole thing is completely lost on you.
The trip to the chile festival reminded me of my dreams. I havent had them recently, but I do have this place in my head. I have dreams where I am speeding along a road that has desert, mountains near large cities, desert hills with bushes... I realized that the hilly part is like the drive to Hatch. Some places, when I travel, beckon to me to be discovered: little hidden places; I find myself wondering what is over the next hill, the one that I cant get to...
Tomorrow is my second class. I tried to get my first assignment's research done today, but to no avail. I am supposed to review an agency that has counseling and due to recent state changes, the agency I reviewed has no counseling except the kind that I couldnt intern for (recovery counseling... anyway). My counseling homework also consists of head shrinking myself. One of my favorite pastimes:D
