WHO: Peter Simmons
WHERE: Beside the altar in building 23 (church)
TIME OF DAY: Mid afternoon
POST SUMMARY: Peter tries to have a devotional.
Head against the side of the altar, Peter looks down and crunches on a Saltine cracker. He feels much better now. Yes, retail therapy added to prayer definitely helps. Clenched tightly in his opposite hand is Jason's baseball. He barely notices it.
Outside the church is a rolling dry erase board that says, "DEVOTIONAL BEFORE DARK. EVERYONE WELCOME!" Peter is no longer that worried about his safety, in regards to the other residents, and hopes that at least one person will show up. He has been longing for a church family since not long after he arrived. Church family is what he knows, and what he needs to feel comforted.
He isn't sure what he'll do if someone does come, because he's never led a devotional. He always let Matt do it at school. ("Every first Friday in Matt's room, guys! Don't forget your Bible this time!") That and if someone does come, who's to say that they will be Catholic? They may want to do it another way than what Peter knows. He's sure something will work out, though. It's God's house, and Peter has to believe that he has a plan. Peter has to believe that God is out there. That He's taking care of him and everyone else with a blessing in disguise, because if He isn't-- well, if He isn't, Peter is utterly alone and doomed.
