Woot! I am gonna be a 2nd-time book author!!! Wooot! Wooot!
Um, wait, let me rephrase that in order to sound more like a proper author.
Ladies and gentlemen, I am pleased to announce that I'm going to be doing a second book for Watson-Guptill Publications!
(...Woot!)
It's pretty much official: I'll be working on a new art book. WG wants the art and text completed by- November! I am currently working on trying to get a newspaper schedule which involves three day weekends. My Boss has been willing to do this, and now we're waiting to hear from higher up. *bites nails* But I will do this, three day weekends or not. (I don't sense a lot of free time in my future... O_O)
What will the new book be about? Not a sequel to Drawing Wildlife, but instead an art book focusing on my OTHER passion: anime! Or manga, to be precise. "How to Draw Animals- Manga Style" is its current working title (which may easily change later on).

I recently expressed my interest in doing a second book to the editor I had worked with on my first book, and was told that they were interested and that I should email my proposals directly to them. So, I proposed four different book ideas to them and while they liked all of them, this is the one they wanted me to do.
Chris Hart's "Manga Mania" is currently WG's best selling art instructional book, and they were very interested in my proposal to delve into manga-style animals, from the more realistic ones (think Wolf's Rain, corgi dog Ein in Cowboy Bebop or the Magic Knight animal forms from MKRayearth) to the chibi and wacky/cartoony ones such as those from Pokemon, Card Captor Sakura, Ryo-oh-ki from Tenchi Muyo, etc...
I can definitely see some Space Chicken and Space Weasel running around in this second book, yep yep.
I am now working on several details for the editor, and should soon be talking contracts. Wish me luck!
Well, I need to get going, work to do, but I wanted to post my exciting news. :)
