43 Blueberry Hill, morning

Feb 15, 2009 09:18

It had been a week. But the bachelorette party had been fun and the wedding and reception had gone off without a hitch.

Isabel had planned on sleeping in late. But, perhaps not surprisingly, she was up early. The first thing she did was glance a her hand and the ring on her finger. Smiling happily as she slipped from the bed, she kept ( Read more... )

Parker wandered in, looking that particular shade of pleased-with-herself that promised that naughtiness had occurred recently. Not a very awake pleased-with-herself yet, though.

"God, I love that you like to cook. So, so grateful for that." She gave a jaw-cracking yawn, and smirked. "Have fun last night?"

"I'm room service. Just without the actual making it to the room part," Isabel replied as she pulled the pan of french toast from the oven. "I did. The reception was great and then Wyatt and I went out for a little quiet time afterwards."

Still not quite awake enough to notice certain jewelry, Parker yawned, then mmmm'd at the delicious scent of toast. "Awwww. Sweeeet." She grinned, then said, "I'm glad you two have finally straightened things out. Took you long enough."

Isabel wasn't going to tell her. She'd wait and let Parker notice in her own sweet time. "We were both stubborn. And stupid. But we got over it. Now that the wedding's done, we're going to get a place of our own."

"MMmmmmm," Parker said, digging into the toast. "Cool. Here, or elsewhere?"

Aaaany second now....

"Here," Isabel replied as she poured a cup of coffee and set it in front of Parker. "The caterer has offered me a job at their place in New Orleans. They do a lot of weddings and it's one of the oldest places in town. It's be a good addition to my resume. Wyatt, well, he can commute to help Chris out when he needs it."

Parker was about to comment on Wyatt being decent that way, and how Sockboy better not interfere with her career, when she saw the ring. Finally.

Choked. Coughed. Pointed at the ring and made outraged noises.

"Are you choking?" she asked, trying not to laugh. "Do I need to do the Heimlich maneuver?"

Parker finally swallowed, took a breath, and yelled. "No! Tell me about the ring! And the plans! And how long you were going to let me sit here and not tell me!"

Gleeful rage and then just glee. "Yes!"

Isabel poured her own cup of coffee and sat across from Parker. "Considering he asked me just about twelve hours ago, there are no plans other then the whole concept of a wedding at some point in the future."

"For the record I was going to let you sit there until I pretty much exploded with squee."

Parker cracked up, and then said, "Well, good! The sooner you two make it official, the better. No changes this time. And if you want to do it in Vegas, no drive-throughs. And you're not picking out my dress!" She snickered, and shook her head, sipping her coffee as she studied Isabel. "You're sure this time. Aren't you."

"I doubt it'll be in Vegas, but there'll definitely be no drive-throughs, and yes you can pick out your own maid of honor dress," Isabel smiled, because there was never any doubt that's what Parker would be.

She looked down at the ring, still half afraid it was just a dream. "I've never been more sure. And judging by your reaction this time, I think you are as well."

"Jesse was a mistake. And you and Wyatt got into a rut last time. Assumed too much. Didn't talk." She smiled a little more softly. "I'm very glad to feel like I don't have to stand up and object, yeah."

"No, instead your job is to shoot anyone that even twitches at that point in the ceremony," she laughed.

"Oh, that part's easy. Getting you enough strippers for the night before, that's going to be a challenge," Parker said meditatively. "Especially if Wyatt or Chris decide to teleport them to the next county."

"Two nights before," Isabel said immediately. "I've dealt with too many brides and grooms and bridal parties that over indulged the night before the wedding. I don't care that Wyatt can heal people. No one is going to be hung over the day of my wedding!."
