Album progress report: 03/13/06
It's officially been a month now since I decided that making an album was what I wanted to do. And so far I have approximately jack shit recorded to show for it. But I've come to grips with the fact that a lot of that has been because I've been unfocused and haven't been doing things in the way I probably should be. So I've figured out how I'm going to be doing things now: freestyle poems like the ones I've posted here from time to time (see: DMC Kafka and the Everlasting Gobstopper) on tape, and instead of crafting the words to the music, form the music around the words, in true beat poetry style. Spoken-word poetry's always fascinated me (my favourite Sage Francis track for the longest time was his a capella/beatbox piece 'Mullet' off the Climb Trees single), and doing things à la Doseone would certainly be easier for me personally than attempting to sing... So all in all it looks like the new direction's a promising one.
Now if only I didn't have to wait for this fucking cold to clear up...
