Happy New Years all~! Let's hope everyone has an awesome 2006 ♥ *sendsloveandsnuggles*
High-pitched giggles and hiccups echoed through the empty halls that led to the wine cellar. The sound of summer fairies, dancing around for a celebration no human was aloud to witness.
Or rather, Marui Bunta - drunk - with his captain. The both of them lazily sprawled atop a leather sofa. One that was mysteriously placed there, reasons unknown. Though it was very helpful because the ground did seem to a very comfortable place to law on, no matter how rich Atobe Keigo was. It was a stupid thing to do anyway. Or maybe not so stupid… what difference did it make?
“Na, Yuki-buchou~ another bottle please~?” The smaller redhead was happily lying against the far end of the couch, legs gracefully curved around his captain’s.
"You're drunk, Bun-chan..." Yukimura chuckled softly, but got up and walked to the shelves of wine anyway. He perused a few racks, before stopping in front of a bottle of his choice. "Mmn... this should be good. 1925, made in France..." he mumbled to himself, before taking the bottle off the rack and bringing it back to the couch, handing it to his team mate.
Eager hands grabbed the bottle, not caring where and when it was made but more excited at the opinion the captain had on it, as cheerful voice piped up, "Only a little~." Insert silly smile.
Tugging the bottle open (who need cork screws?), the amethyst-eyed boy slid his tongue out, curling it to the white wine would run cleanly into his mouth. Sweet. Another gulp. And very, very good. Taking the bottle away, that same tongue ran over pink lips, catching any stray drops. Thin fingers held the bottle out loosely. "Here~."
Yukimura chuckled softly at his friend's actions, and then took the bottle offered. Reaching for the glass he previously drank from, he then filled half the glass with wine, before handing the bottle back to Marui. "I'm not going to lug you back to your room you know..."
Marui let out a soft groan at that. “No~… I don’t wanna go back~,” he really didn’t. Spending time with Jiroh would be so awkward now. What was they’re relationship anyway? Or Mukahi? “Don’t wanna~~!”
Perhaps there had been a shred of planning behind getting drunk. It certainly wasn’t something that Marui did all too often. Especially not with his buchou who, by all rights, should be stopping him.
"You wanna start the new year by being drunk huh?" the Rikkai captain mumbled, sipping on his drink elegantly. He shifted into a slightly more comfortable position, and then turned to look at the pink-haired youth. "Ne... you look bothered. What are you thinking about, Bun-chan?"
“Mm~,” Dark pink strands flew up and down as Marui nodded his head vigorously. What was he agreeing to? “I am bothered~! By… by…” Jiroh and Mukahi and broom cupboards and the boat and Oishi and house wives and DREAMS. “Relationships~! They’re… so, so, so, really bad!”
"Hmm?" Yukimura arched an eyebrow in curiosity. Perhaps he should take this chance to make Bunta spit things out. After all, it wasn't good to keep things bottled up. Even if not as his buchou, he had the duty to care for Marui as his friend, ne? "… What about relationships? Care to tell me?"
With a rather distressed and loud cry of ‘buchou~!’ Marui lunged himself at the taller boy, snuggling into the small chest of the older boy. “It’s horrible…” Just slowly, he could feel his thoughts becoming less and less coherent. And mm~ his captain was so comfortable.
Pressing his cheek to where he felt the other’s heartbeat the strongest, he began to ramble. “I told him the truth and he got mad at me~ and then I told him the truth and things became even worse~~. And then… and then… I was married and I had babies… I’m not ready to be a mother~~!!”
Yukimura let out a soft gasp as a mob of pink hair suddenly flew into him. He jerked his glass away in reflex, managing not to spill any of its contents. Carefully holding the glass away from Marui, he lifted his free hand to run through the silky pink strands comfortingly, laughing softly at Marui's ramblings. "Who's him? And since when did you get married and have babies, Bun-chan? Maa... how mean, you didn't even invite me to your wedding."
“I didn’t have a wedding…?” Big, purple eyes blinked up at the blue-haired boy. Shifting up, he took another gulp of the pale liquid, nibbling on the opening once he’d had enough.
Weirdly enough, he could feel his stomach rumbling. He needed more wine maybe. “If I did have a wedding… would you promise to be my bridesmaid Yuki-buchou?”
The captain laughed, blue waves shaking gracefully as he nodded his head. "Of course, Bun-chan..." he smiled, slender fingers continuing to idly play with soft pink hair, "Provided that I'm not married earlier than you..."
He fell silent for awhile, imagining Marui in a wedding dress. Or perhaps a tuxedo? The wedding dress seemed more appealing...
The thought of his captain getting married… It was too much!
Bouncing slightly, pink eyebrows drew upwards as the purple eyes narrowed. “Hee~…” You practically see the gossip stirring behind those smirking lips. “What would happen if we got married to each other~?” A silly, giggle-gasp escaped him. “I think fukubuchou would kill me~~.”
"Eh?" Yukimura looked down at the boy in his lap, thinking about what he said for a moment too long. His mind was indeed slowed down by all that alcohol he consumed. "Fukubuchou? Gen-kun? Why would he kill you..? Gen-kun may be aggressive and harsh sometimes, but he wouldn't kill anyone... especially not his team mate." Yukimura mumbled, jumping to his vice-captain's defence at once, though not entirely sure of what he just said.
“Hai~…” Bunta looked thoughtful for only a moment before shrugging. “He’d probably angst in a corner somewhere~.” Fiddling with the bottle some, Bunta frowned, thoughtfulness returning to him. “Ne, Yuki-buchou~… isn’t it hard being captain~?”
"Mmn... Gen-kun lightens the load very much. I can't thank him enough... I think things would be drastically different if he hadn't been fukubuchou." the captain muttered with a thoughtful nod, bringing his glass to his lips and downing some of its contents.
Nodding solemnly Marui spoke again, with a slight pout. “But… don’t you have a hard time with favourites~?” he asked, blinking up at the other, “We all love you, Yuki-buchou~. Do love us all the same too?”
Because it wasn’t possible to love so many people the exact same way was it? He was bad with these things… and he had to deal with them all the time. It really wasn’t fair at all.
Yukimura took another sip before looking at his friend with half-lidded eyes, speaking softly as thoughts ran through his mind. "Hmm~ I do love all of you... but in different ways of course. You are all different beings, I can't possibly love all of you in the same way ne? Like... I can make you happy by buying you cakes and sweets, but I can't do that to Yagyuu ne?"
“Yagyuu’s weird like that…” the volley specialist muttered before taking another swing of his drink.
Letting out a content sigh, he grinned mischievously. “Or different~…” He licked his lips. “But sometimes, I wish getting laid as just an experiment would be ok~.”
"Hmm? You wish to get laid by Yagyuu? I never knew you took such an interest in him, Bun-chan~" Yukimura teased, chuckling.
Bunta’s eyes widened in distress, head shaking rapidly. “Noooo~ then I’d have issues with Niou too~!!” He sighed, moving the green bottle in hands around. The swishing sound was oddly comforting. Not that the genius of Rikkai needed comforting of any kind. No, no, he was perfectly fine with his life.
“Life is too hard, Yuki-buchou.” Pout.
"I thought you were the most carefree one among us all..." Yukimura muttered, taking another sip of his drink. This wine was indeed of good quality. He usually didn't drink so much, but this one seemed to leave him wanting more.
"What's making your life so hard, Bun-chan?"
“Being a hormonal male~,” the redhead cried helplessly. Having a libido was supposed to be a good thing wasn’t it? Why, oh why, did it want to make his life horrible? “Hormones flying in all directions~ if you’re not careful… one might get you!”
And what was up with that freakish dream?
"Silly... what happened exactly? Did you get raped or what?" Yukimura asked, concerned for his friend, yet not getting a single clue of what happened through the boy's cries and whines.
“Yes~! That’s what happened!” It made sense! Yukimura was truly magical… that was why he was sparkling and there were four of him. “Gakuto raped me but I raped him back so Jiroh got mad and Oishi stole me away to bear his children~.”
Dark blue eyes flew open at the first statement. If that was real, it was a really big problem and some action would have to be taken. But upon hearing the second comment, his head fell back in relief, knowing the possibility of it being true was rather low.
"Is this really true or are you just drunk, Bunta? Obviously Oishi didn't steal you away to bear his children... and I doubt Gakuto-kun would rape you."
Golden drink poured into the captain’s glass. “If you can still think like that Yuki-buchou~, you haven’t had nearly enough to drink.” Leaning back, he winked. “Join your Bun-chan~.”
"Bun-chan! You got me all worried!" the captain reprimanded with a light laugh, pushing his team mate’s head lightly in jest. "Maa... not too good if someone found the captain on Rikkai all drunk and sprawled over ne?" he mumbled, but took a sip from the glass anyway.
Marui on the other hand, happily took another gulp of the drink, eyes becoming deluded now. “Don’t worry Yuki-buchou~,” a hiccup, “you’re the fair maiden the big dragon took captive~, na~?”
Leaning back on the dark couch, the boy let out a rather pathetic ‘roar’ before bursting into giggles. “But buchou~~ is hardly helpless.” Dark eyes widened at the thought, whoever thought the captain of Rikkaidai Fuzoku was weak was horrible off, Marui laughed.
"Aa~ but what if there is no knight in shining armour to rescue this fair maiden?" Yukimura mumbled before taking another mouthful of the golden liquid. Tilting his head back to let the liquid slowly flow down and caress his throat, he let out a contented sigh after swallowing.
“Who needs a man?” Marui whispered, with near anger. “Women like us don’t need men to…” he trailed off. What was he saying? Who was a woman? And weren’t they gay or something? This was probably the result of too much alcohol.
“Ne… Yuki-buchou…” it was a softer whisper this time, “feminists scare me.”
Yukimura stroked Marui's hair comfortingly, calming him down. "Who scared our little tensai?" he asked casually. "Who needs a man? Everyone needs a man... even men need men..." he mumbled to himself in thought.
“Men need men,” the redhead echoed, rolling the concept over and over in his head. Meaningless sounds that no longer made sense. Blinking sadly, he nodded. “But don’t people only need themselves buchou~?”
“Because… some people are all alone~…” And that was such a sad thought.
"Humans are social animals... we all need someone from time to time. Don't you think so, Bun-chan?" the captain asked, dropping his head to gaze into hazy purple eyes. "Like you need Jackal to play doubles... and I~ I need... Gen-kun."
Wonder filled his head. His buchou… Yukimura was so… cool. How the rest of the regulars have fangirls when Yukimura Seiichi was on the team? How could anyone tear their eyes away from the magnificence that was the captain of Rikkai?
“Buchou… you’re right. I miss Jackal~~,” he drowned the rest of the bottle before letting it rest on the ground. Snuggling himself on the dark-haired boy chest once more, he sighed contently. “Buchou. <3”
"Aa... I miss Jackal too. And though it sounds ironic, I miss the times when all of you came to visit me at the hospital. Brightened my days without fail..." he whispered with a smile, leaning back against the couch as the smaller boy curled up to him.
Breathing contently, Marui shook his head softly. Yukimura being in the hospital was such a scary experience. The redhead had found himself wanting to cry on many occasions. Yet, strangely enough, when they visited their captain, the whole team, it had brought warm fuzzy feelings that not even the best of soups could provide. Team work was always important in Rikkai, even though they weren’t as obvious about it as other teams, like Fudomine.
“We’re still happy to brighten your days buchou~,” he nuzzled his head in further, before looking up and placing a kiss on the bottom of his captain’s chin. “Even if Niou, Akaya and Yagyuu are kind of annoying.”
Yukimura's silvery laugh filled the air. He ran his hand through Marui's hair and ruffled it childishly. "Niou is just tricky. Akaya is... still a child, I would say. Yagyuu? How is he annoying? Probably too boring and studious for your liking ne?"
The navy haired youth emptied the contents of his glass down his throat. "Mm... none of you are annoying. You're all such lovely people... I'm lucky to have met all of you."
“And…” the smaller boy tensed in panic, “We’re all going to graduate soon… We’ll all leave each other~…”
"No... we can go to the same university. Even if not, we can always meet up again... play tennis together again." Yukimura briefly thought about the future, imagining them coming together from all walks of life just for a game of tennis. He chuckled.
“That’s…” Marui snickered. “Na, Yuki-buchou, can you imagine us married with kids though?” Kirihara would constantly argue with the three-year-olds, Yagyuu and Yanagi would bore their kids out of their minds, Niou… he couldn’t imagine and Sanada would be such a scary father.
"Mmn... it would be interesting to see though, what kind of people we each end up with if we all got married. Renji's wife would probably be someone really neat and tidy ne? Jackal looks like a family guy; I'm thinking he'll have at least two children. Bun-chan would probably like someone cheerful and innocent, ne?"
“Buchou knows best~,” the volley specialist agreed happily. Cheerful and innocent? His first girlfriend had been cheerful and innocent… Yukimura must have super buchou powers. It was sort of scary but so cool at the same time.
“Yuki-buchou would probably be with~…” he thought for a moment, “You’d have such a hard time deciding who to marry. So many people would want to~!”
"Oh really?" Yukimura chuckled, thinking for a moment. He really didn't know what kind of person he would marry. After all, his life so far had been centered around tennis and studies, he hadn't taken interest in any girls, much less date one.
"Bun-chan is wonderful too, I'm sure many people would want to marry you too~"
An ominous feeling ran over the cellar. Purple eyes narrowed, and pink strands seemed to sway. “That’s not always a good thing buchou…”
"Aa... indeed. Just one fated one is enough ne. Do you think you've met that special person?" Yukimura cleared his throat slightly, bringing his hand up to rub his throat slightly. He was feeling somewhat thirsty. The thought of chilled wine flowing down his throat was particularly appealing.
Rolling around so that he was on his back, Bunta peered up curiously. “I doubt I’d be able to tell…” Reaching up a careful hand he placed it on the pale boy’s throat. Was there something wrong with his buchou? What if he had a sore throat? God forbid the other get sick again. “Need something buchou~?”
"Just getting a little thirsty... sorry to worry you." Yukimura smiled calmly with a small nod in appreciation. "Can you get us something to drink please, Bun-chan?"
Perking up immediately at the chance to please the other boy, the redhead nodded enthusiastically. Quickly getting off the couch and stumbling over to where the racks of wine were, his eyes scanned for the best drink. It was a sad thing that he didn’t know how to judge wine.
“Well~…” he picked one, the bottle a deep red, “this one’s really pretty and small~. So it’s probably good, ne Yuki-buchou~?”
Yukimura chuckled faintly, feeling too lazy to walk over and see, the alcohol taking over his body and brain slowly. "Mm... anything will do, Bun-chan." He sat up, rearranging his posture and stretching a bit.
Shuffling silently back to where Yukimura lay, Marui grabbed the glass the other had been using and poured some into the glass, to the point where the sparkling liquid was nearly slipping out of the glass. “There you are buchou.”
"Aa... thank you." the captain smiled, bringing the glass to his lips for a sip, sighing comfortably as his throat was relieved. "I don't think I ever drank that much in one sitting... my face must be flushed ne?"
“Mm…” Marui nodded amiably, letting his eyes wander over his friend’s face. The flush and light in the other’s eyes made it look like he was having fun. The thought warmed the smaller boy. “It makes you look even more prettier than you already are~.”
"Mm... don't tease your buchou like that." Yukimura mumbled, giggling slightly, feeling his head start to float. Whatever wine Marui had gotten, it sure was strong. The sweet-sour flavour still lingered in his mouth from the previous sip.
"Bun-chan~ will your roommate get worried if you don't return to the room?"
“Not teasing~,” Marui replied in protest.
Pulling back to contemplate Yukimura’s question. Bunta sat there dumbly for a second. Would his room mate…? He doubted it; Atobe was probably throwing a big party for all the Hyoutei regulars.
Taking a sip (not a gulp) of the new wine he’d brought, he shrugged casually. “I don’t think so~. I wouldn’t mind spending the night with you, Yuki-buchou~.”
"Gen-kun... Gen-kun will be worried... I think~" the navy-haired boy muttered thoughtfully, blinking his eyes tiredly. "Hmm... think he'll find us?"
Closing his eyes thoughtfully, Marui had to agree. “I think he will…” Sanada… even though a fukubuchou seemed to have weird captain powers. But they were hardly as strong as Yukimura’s. “I mean, he always finds me when I’m hiding.”
Yukimura laughed softly, leaning slightly against his friend, "That's because you always hide in the same few places, Bun-chan... and you're always attracted to food." He took another sip of the drink, playing with the liquid on his tongue for a moment before swallowing it.
Drinking the last of what was in the small bottle; the Rikkai genius pouted and snuggled against the taller boy. “He find the others too~.” He said, because it was true. He wasn’t the only who hid from the stern vice-captain. “And everyone knows you drink wine on New Years Eve so… he’ll find us.” And this time, that was a good thing?
"Maa... he's going to give me a lecture for drinking so much this year, probably." Yukimura whined subtly. He knew he shouldn't have drunk so much. Not as himself, and especially not as the buchou of the Rikkai tennis team. But it was the festive season~~
A soft sigh. “And then with thoughts like that… what to do but drink more?” Or maybe that wasn’t a good idea. “Sanada-fukubuchou will probably be mad we didn’t ask him to join in~.”
Yukimura laughed at that comment, his swimming mind envisioning Sanada pouting and complaining about them going for a drink without him. Totally off-character. "Noo~ Gen-kun doesn't get mad over such stuff."
Marui shrugged, Sanada never seemed to act anything outside of angry or determined. Though Yanagi and Yukimura probably knew the other guy better than he did. “He probably wanted to kiss you at midnight or something.”
Yukimura felt his cheeks heat up slightly, though he wasn't sure was it a reaction from Marui's comment or from the alcohol. "Hmm... you really think he'd do such a thing?" The thought sounded inviting... the captain had kissed Oishi previously, and he had been waiting to kiss someone closer to him to see if her would get that fluttery feeling his sister told him about.
“Oh yeah…” Marui kept on talking, oblivious to the reaction of his captain, “But he’d never do it you know? Sanada-fukubuchou’s really a coward sometimes. Not at all like me,” Not even pausing to breathe, the boy kept on rambling on, “If I wanted to kiss someone would I just do it.”
"Sanada... he's just too proper and serious to do something like that. He'll probably think it was disrespectful and rude to the other person, I suppose..." Yukimura whispered slightly wistfully, feeling a weird sense of disappointment appear from nowhere. Must be the alcohol, he thought.
“Like this~” Bunta proclaimed happily. “This is how he should do it Yuki-buchou~~!” Clearing his throat, he attempted to look serious. “Seiichi…” A mock, half-bow. “I would like to have this kissu…”
Yukimura broke out into a chain of chuckles, his head falling back as if his neck had given way. "Bad boy... teasing your buchou and fukubuchou like that..!" the captain mock-reprimanded, feeling tears at the corners of his eyes, either from fatigue or from the laughing.
“Oh buchou…” Pretty, purple eyes twinkled deviously. “I’ve been such a bad boy this year…” Pouty lips thinned and pulled up into a cat-like grin. “But I don’t think anyone’s complaining~.”
"Ne, Bun-chan... what would you do if Sanada tried to kiss you?" Yukimura asked, stifling a laugh, trying to get back at his friend for teasing him.
The thought of Sanada… standing there with his lips puckered up and eyes closed hopefully made Marui want to die… Right before sending him into a fit of laughter. Oh dear… that was hilarious. Bunta wished he could have somehow given Sanada the knowledge of what they were talking about. “I’d… I’d… kiss him and pretend it was someone else~…” Not really, he probably would have fainted.
"Oh? I thought you would run away... you always seem so scared of Gen-kun." Yukimura chuckled, imagining the whole scenario in his head.
“He’d probably fake it anyway…” he bit his lip, “pretend to want to kiss me and then hit me.”
"If Gen-kun wanted to hit you, he would just hit you straight across the face~ he wouldn't need to fake it." Yukimura mumbled, bringing the glass up to drink some.
“You’re right…” Marui murmured thoughtfully, “But Sanada-fukubuchou has never hit me~. Because… I’m lovable right?”
"I doubt... it’s probably because we've got more serious troublemakers like Niou-kun and Akaya-kun." The captain let out a small yawn. He emptied his glass and carefully set it down on the floor, stretching his arms a bit.
Marui went cross-eyed, pout imminent. “Buchou~~” he whined a bit, before settling comfortably against the other with a huff. Curse Yukimura for being so soft and warm and nice. And sometimes, when practice was over, the redhead wished he could take his captain home.
"Bun-chan... do you think Gen-kun likes me?" Yukimura mumbled incoherently, falling half-asleep. The weight on his body was warm and sleep-inducting, though a little heavy. His legs felt numb, but he couldn't be bothered, his brain was even number than his legs.
“Yup…” Pink head kept on nodding, as his eyes began to close. “How could he not…~?”
"I mean... like more than friends... you know~?" the captain continued to ramble, unaware of the words slipping past his lips. He felt tired... very tired.
Closing his eyes, Marui smiling. His buchou was so cute sometimes. “I think Yuki-buchou… I think Sanada-fukubuchou really wants to kiss you.” A soft rumble of happiness. “So yes~.”
Yukimura wasn't registering sentences anymore. He faintly heard some words, but sleep was having the better of him. "Hmm... kiss... sounds nice..." he mumbled inaudibly, his body already surrendered to the comforts of dreamland while his foggy mind struggled to make out some words.
Kisses sounded nice? If his buchou wanted one... Marui planted a small kiss on the tall boy's collar bone. There. Oh but, was it midnight yet? That was when they had to kiss right? Hm, but Yukimura was already sleeping. Beautiful, beautiful Yukimura.
"Happy New Years Yuki-buchou," he murmured softly, before following his captain's example and going to sleep.
