OK, I hope you are all sitting down... :-)

Yes, I've decided to post something. It's been almost three years since I've written in here, so it's about time I wrote an update. I have been reading, and commenting very occasionally, and have kept you all in my thoughts.

So, what are the highlights of the last three years.

In early May 2011 I adopted a lovely sweet cat who I called Orion. Orion was a stray, found living in the basement of a disused factory. It was coming up on winter, and after my coworker had watched him for a couple weeks - the factory site is where her church group meets, she asked me if I wanted him. Of course I said yes, and after discussing keeping Orion with my realtor, Orion had his forever home.

On Christmas day 2011, the first floor of Dad's house completely flooded in a huge rain storm. We were sitting relaxing watching some TV when the storm started, and were concerned by the huge amount of water gushing down the hill behind his home. To cut a long and sad story short, the water built up so much that it caused the windows at the back of Dad's house to smash. Water went all through the first floor. Thankfully we were able to get upstairs in time, as the water would have been above my head height within a couple minutes. Dad couldn't live in the house, so he came to live with me for 10 months, which is how long it took for everything inside of the first floor to be cleaned and replaced. He lost a lot of important items, but thankfully he was OK, and more was salvaged in the end than he had originally thought.

On July 12 2012, I traveled back to the U.S for my third visit. I visited friends in Alabama, New England and California for just under a month. As with my previous visits, I had a great time, and spent quality time with good friends I don't see often enough. I'll be going back next year, as I wasn't able to travel this year...

As soon as I returned from the U.S, I was told the guide dog school had a new guide dog for me. Molly, who had been my wonderful guide dog for the past eight years was losing her vision, so it was time for her to retire. I received Orissa, a Labrador Golden Retriever mix, who is a wonderful girl, but a challenge to work with initially. We're doing well, now, though

The reason for me not traveling back to the States this year was because in March I went to an auction, and was the successful bidder for a two bedroom apartment. It is absolutely lovely, and all mine. I've been saving since I started my job in 2008, and with the money from my settlement with my ex husband, I was able to afford to put down a decent deposit. I've been living here since mid September, and have settled in nicely.

Well, that brings us up to the present.

I can't promise anything, but I will try to stop in here more than once every three years. :-)

long overdue updates
