Busy, busy...
I've been on the Dean's and President's list so far, but holy crap there is so much homework, assignments, and projects this term. I hope I can keep it up. I'm taking three classes: Deep Tissue, Asian Modalities, and Pathology. Mid terms are coming up on the 15th of August, and the finals are the 26th of September.
For Asian, I've a written article every Wednesday, Chapter Summary due every Friday, my Midterm two page written paper is due next Friday, and there's a poster due at the mid term. I had to lead a meditation this past Monday, which I more or less bull shitted myself through. I'm really not in to meditation, if it works for you great, it's a waste of time for me and I end up more aggravated than relaxed and focused.
Deep tissue (aka Neuromuscular therapy) doesn't always seem as intense, it's my only hands on class and I'm really enjoying it. I actually think I'd be able to specialize in it, but I definitely need to strengthen my hands more if I want a career in it. I at least get a half hour to forty-five minute massage every other day, but there's also chapter reviews due every other class... most I can get done while in class or at lunch.
Pathology is by far the most challenging, there's just so much work to do. Rereading chapters, chapter summaries, definitions of diseases/conditions/symptoms to memorize and recognize. The original teacher we had left for a better job and while I miss him and how he taught, I'm happy with the replacement (who's also my Deep teacher). When we found out Dr. Bob was leaving, we all goofed off... and got a chapter behind. While it doesn't sound like a lot to you, it's pretty drastic considering the chapter represents half the whole book and 80% of the midterm and half of what we'll be tested on at State Board.
Aside from school, I'm still working at Lifetime in their spa, I've been doing pretty well considering I only technically work two days: Sun 10-4, Tue 10-2, and Thur 4-9. I'm on call for evenings only if it works out with my school work. My goal got raised to $1300 this month and I doubt I'll reach it, they raise it every month apparently, last month it was $1200 and I was 91%. My clients are great, I've been getting a lot of repeat business and good recommendations. I've only had one complaint so far, I don't care though; I always give the clients three times to tell me if there's anything they aren't happy with or want redone. It's the clients fault for lying to me. To quote her: "Oh you did such a great job, I love it, I'll be coming back... here's 25% gratuity."
Anyway, Amara's being a brat. She's got some molars coming in and has the nastiest temper this month. I'm not going to get any homework done until she's down for her nap, which I may lay her down soon. Aside from her early pms'ing, she's doing well. Walking, picking up new words, becoming very independent.
We'll be going to Canada for a week after my finals, I'm looking forward to it. My grandparents aren't doing so well and I want to make sure to give them a good visit with their great granddaughter.
