Power

Its been a reoccuring theme recently. The other week there was Adam's depressing song (in tone if not lyrics) about the power people weild in a relationship. We then had a conversation about that, using our parents as examples. Who weilds what power? Why? Do they use it, to what effect, and is that okay ( Read more... )

Power isn't a negative thing, any more than water or food electricity or anything else that's essential in our lives. The trick is truly sharing it rather than hoarding it. It's ironic to me that those who choose to hoard power spend so much of their power in just staying powerful, in an endless loop. It's like spending $9 of every $10 you make just so you can be $1 richer than you neighbors. Or in other words, being American. :-)

I suppose power doesn't have to be negative, as you say. And I didn't realize I was assuming it was until I re-read that entry. But many things aren't innately more safe, neutral, or dangerous than others until ill intent is behind them.

How can power be shared?
