Christians consider God to be a male, refering to the supreme being as "He". Feminist critics of christian beliefs will point to this as a historical example of sexism. After all, why couldn't God be a she?
Consider that the purpose of having two sexes in most species is reproduction. It is a mechanism of combining different genomes in the propagation of the species. However, God does not require propagation. There will only ever be one God. What's more, God is perfect, and therefore should not have any gender limitations or purposeless bits. It is reasonable to conjecture, therefore, that God is neither male or female. God simply is (if you believe in It).
