The Force

Yes, I did recently watch all 5 movies in the Star Wars Trilogy. But that just conveniently coincides with the writing of this LJ. There is a philosophical theory of God which states that a part of God is in everything, everything is a part of God.

Now lets take God out of the equation, and revert to what Science has proven. Everything is made up of matter. Flesh, blood, water, plants, air. Everything is made up of atoms and subatomic particles and protons, neutrons, electrons, whatever. All matter is made up of the same thing, which is, as far as we’ve discovered, mostly just electrical charges. So, if all matter is made up of these charged particles, which are in turn made up of the same thing as one another, everything is essentially made of the same thing. So by extension, everything is the same thing. I know this sounds ludicrous but I don’t mean like everything is one solid thing, I mean each thing is a part of another thing. Every person, object, plant, animal, everything is a part of my world, an extension of me. And it’s made up of the same things as me, so should I not be able to have some degree of control over it? In theory should I know be able to make a branch bend the same way as I can my finger?

I know I’m probably giving credit where it’s not due, but without realizing it I think George Lucas made a huge philosophical statement . Most people see God as a person. Man or woman, old or young, it doesn’t matter. The fact is most people see God as a man. This is called anthropomorphism. God cannot be human in shape for several reasons. Primarily because the human body is imperfect in design and God is, by very nature and definition, perfect. This theory though, that states God is in part everything and everything is in part God (which seems strikingly familiar to a part of Eastern religion. Which I’m not quite sure but it may be Shiva, of Hinduism, who shatters him/herself to pieces, creating human souls, and then makes a game of trying to gather all the pieces, which is they cycle of life and death), gives reason to believe that life is not an “all for one and one for all” endeavour. We are all one in the same in a way. We are all connected by something greater than us and beyond our power to destroy or alter. I’ve never been partial to Faith, I’m not what you’d call a God-fearing person, but this theory of God works in theory, because perhaps God is that extra piece of everything we can’t find. Everything has to come from somewhere, maybe those subatomic particles are made up of something Divine?
