If you are ever faced with tonic, limes, chocolate mint and an array of ill-suited liquors to add to this mix, do not choose spiced rum. I promise, you will thank me. *spit spit*

"Ok, cool. What part of CA? I was there for the first time this past March. My boyfriend is from Irvine, basically. We went to LA and more or less drove along the coast from just north of SF to Tijuana. It was gorgeous. I'd like to go back. I think maybe the parts of me that are Florida and the parts of me that are sick of NYC could flourish in N.CA. That might be nice ( ... )

But S CA is just soooooo hoooooooot! And fake and/or Military.

Huh...the people thing I understand, it's hard to get people to come do stuff in NYC. Like, for instance, I am loathe to go to any other part of Brooklyn from where I live. Or to go to the Upper East Side or (god forbid) the UWS b/c it takes me like, an hour and a half to get there by subway.

Whoa, San Jose is super far north! I kinda liked but kinda didn't like San Francisco. There was something wrong with it, I felt like more than just the squatter punks, that didn't make up for the Victorian houses and cedars and fog. But I don't know what.

I'm not a big fan of SF. It smells like pee. There are tons of towns/cities with beautiful victorian houses... no need to be in SF to enjoy them.:] I dunno, beyond a few kewl museums and the russian bakeries... I don't have any real reason to go to SF ( ... )

I thought it was cool that we could go hiking in woodsy kind of stuff right in the middle of LA. There was mustard all around and when we got to the little pond at the top of the hike, I said, "You guys, it smells like McDonalds...OH! The mustard!!"

Yeah, people work a ton in NYC, though I've been lucky to find a job where I can work four days a week and totally bank (massage therapy), though even that's working a lot. That's up to 20 hour long massages per week which can be wearing. But it enables me to save really easily and do things like take off 6 weeks to go to Brazil and Mexico. Or save as much as possible and move to Spain, which is what I'm doing in less than two months! *gasp*

I'm from Florida so am always desperately trying to escape the heat.

Gotcha. I've never been to Florida. It's not really on my list of places to see.

You are moving to Spain, eh? Why for? What are you going to do there?

I don't have allergies like a lot of other people but mustard flowers are my kryptonite. SOnoma County will have fields full of the stuff and I just remember my asthma being a major issue during those months.

One of the reasons I enjoyed living in SoCal (besides getting to be social somewhere other than online for the first time in my life) was that an hour each direction to me to somewhere different. There was the ocean, mountains, desert, mexico, etc. It was kewl.

I did miss the Redwoods though. My friend and I are planning on doing a mini-road trip up to the Avenue of Giants just to see the big ass redwoods up there.

Oh man! I hate when I forget to respond to comments.

No, Florida's not all that exciting. Well, there are parts of it that are fantastic, natural Florida is quite beautiful in a hot, low grass sort of way. Scrub land, and the state tree is the royal palm.
