England had just gotten back from a day of errands and she was now picking up the house. She had planned on curling up with a good book and a cup of tea, or perhaps take a nice bath. She was walking to her staircase when she heard the knock at the door. Who the hell was that, coming here so late? She frowned and opened the door.
Waiting outside England's door, Prussia's cocky grin flourished on her face as she realized that England was frowning already. Whether this was because she had opportunity to improve upon things or so easily make the other's entire weekend awful, Prussia wasn't about to decide.
"England!" she greeted, almost too loudly, "Have you missed me?"
Why did people feel the need to visit her without saying they were coming? What if her house had been messy, or she had been asleep? England rubbed her forehead. "What the hell do you want?"
"I'll take that as a yes, since you've obviously missed my awesome company as much as I've missed yours." Prussia's smile, for a moment, shows something genuinely fond before being replaced with her usual... confidence again. Definitely confidence, not arrogance. "Aren't you going to invite me in?"
"..." For a brief second, England was caught off-guard. It was very rare for Prussia to mention that she missed anyone. But the small compliment was enough for England's wall to crack a little and she blushed and stepped to the side, holding open the door. "You should tell people you're going to visit before you get to their house. Idiot."
Adding a +1 to her mental scorecard for the evening, Prussia stepped inside, sure to bump into England on the way, despite having more than enough space to avoid that.
Tch. England made an annoyed sound and shut the door after Prussia waltzed in like she owned the place. Her eyes followed Prussia's legs as she walked down the hall, but once she realized she was staring, England cleared her throat and followed her.
"Don't worry. I'm surprised. Surprised that I have such a rude houseguest."
"How many years has it been?" Prussia asked rhetorically, finding somewhere to sit and making herself comfy. "And you still think how I treat you is rude. How cute."
England followed past the living room and her guest to the kitchen to get two cups of tea for the kettle. Thankfully she made enough for several cups. She spoke while she was away.
"Twelve years, five months, and two days." Far too long for her liking. Now that Prussia was out from behind that damnable wall, she really should have made a point to come visit. Well, not without saying so.
The exact answer gave Prussia pause, although she would never admit it.
"I meant how long have we known each other," she clarified, waffling a moment on whether to make fun of the answer she'd gotten or not. In the end, she decided not to, simply because there were feelings there she didn't know what to do with. All right, Ms Isolationist, you win one round.
