Hey Mark,
I haven't talked to you since I bumped into you at Chipotle and it was kind of awkward... for me at least. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I'm still reading your LJ and am interested in where you are in life. It makes me think about the old times and far we've both come from them.
It sounds like you're turning into a minimalist by the way you describe wanting to get rid of all of your stuff. Not a bad way to go. Ghandi was a minimalist. If you want something to read, check out Cormac McCarthy. He's the new literary minimalist. He's getting more famous since No Country For Old Men hit the movie screen (he wrote the novel) and The Road was endorsed by Oprah, but both of those books are worth a look. But then again, if you're a minimalist, adding more things (like books) to your collection would just deter you from achieving Nirvana, like the Buddhists do.
Also, I wanted to thank you for shattering my preconception that the military brainwashes its soldiers into devaluing human life and life in general. It's good to know that there are soldiers out there who wouldn't want to harm a fly... or a spider. Take care, man.
