First and foremost, since I don't know if we'll manage to talk before you leave:
Bon Voyage
seascribe! Enjoy Europe! See and hear and experience lots and lots of interesting stuff and then come back and tell us about it!*sniffle* I misses you already.
So, what have I been doing lately?
Mostly uni stuff.
Our Iran itinerary is taking form, I'll post it next week. But I already can tell you that there will be a lot of whining in the future. When planning our trip, we only thought about visiting as many sites as possible in two weeks (we even elongated it to 18 days). Then came the distribution of the papers. One paper per site. I have four to prepare. Four. Ergo lots of whining ahead. We won't meet weekly anymore, but have three blocks in July to give people time to prepare their papers. Which means more whining, this time about having to go to uni at Saturdays and Sundays. And there is the fun-promising fact that all four of mine are planned for Sunday 15., and on Monday I'll hold the one on Nabonid in another course. (Under the same prof. She'll be so tired of listening to me.)
I kicked two exercises out of my schedule due to this influx of work. Ironically both Classics and not Orientalistic like the Iran-course. But Archaeology of the Ancient Near East is my major and I love it dearly (which might be the reason it's here that I do not need any more credits...) And the courses in Classics are always on so boring subjects.
But let's not talk about uni. (Well, you can comment on whatever you like, but I'll stop talking about it now.) It is Whitsun, and while I couldn't care less what the churches are doing as long as they don't proclaim a crusade, that means one week of downtime. Hoodelally!
Tabea visited over the weekend. We went and saw PotC III. Not as much as the first ope, but better than the second. I liked it. Except for some things I shall not mention here due to spoilerness. But! One thing happened in that movie. One very bad thing. I told
hyel I'd hate Disney if they did that, and they did it. So: *clears throat* I officially hate Disney!
Shockingly enough both Tabea and me suddenly started to like Will. Why? Because he becomes hot. Almost at the end. Mortally-wounded-hotness. *nods* Awww, don't look at me like that. I didn't spoiler you. I said "mortally-wounded", not "dead". *grumbles* As if Disney would kill of Will. Oh no, not Will. Puppy that he is. Even Jack calls him "whelp".
So we spent Saturday with an LotR marathon. Yep, I'm the proud owner of a special extended version DVD set. 11 1/4 hours. We talked about shallowness, not liking Gandalf, Elrond and Galadriel, male bonding, what a pity it is that dwarves are ugly (yes, we were talking about our shallowness), and the many advantages of watching this together and with no one else, the most important one being the opportunity to fastforward all the Frodo/Sam scenes without having someone complain.
Sunday she left for home, and I accompanied her and am now visiting the family (we are from the same village, and she still lives here. Yes, my best friend is very convenient). Unfortunately it's cold and rainy, so no swimming in Lake Constance.
And Thursday we'll leave for Rock im Park. Big rock open-air, Friday to Sunday. Many many good bands. Among others My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, and Billy Talent. If I had to name three favourite bands, it would probably be these three. So reeeeaaally looking forward to this. And hoping for good weather. Because open-airs? Camping? For three days and four nights? Much more fun when it's sunny and warm *nods*
So... *thinks real hard* That should be it. For now. I should be home again by Tuesday or Wednesday next week. And might ask Grace to start "Stephen and the Quails" with me if she is in the mood and won't mind a co-author who is constantly busy with other stuff.
