You are right, saying 'no' to the US isn't easy. My gouvernment decided against joining Bush's War Against Terrorism, and we got some pretty harsh comments to that.

Our current Federal Chancellor is rather ass-licking, too... She would have joined the US. I'm just glad she wasn't elected yet when 9-11 happened.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. The US support any goventment as long as it fits their purpose, no matter what kind of government. And are just as willing to turn around and provide said government's enemies with weapons at the next best opportunity. Or just use big words such as "preemptive strike" and "democracy" and march in.

Have you heard about the new French president? Ultra conservative. So not one of the good things.
