For those of you not on the FB or on the Google+ or on the OMG dervishspin is freaking out!!! LJ filter: elmer42 was injured in a work accident on Friday. Someone drove a 30 yard dumpster over his right foot, parked it there, and then drove it off about a minute later.
I know you have all seen that episode of House and ER. We lived it. I don't recommend the re-run.
Hopped up on pain drugs on the way home from the hospital he cheerfully informed me that the silver lining in all this was he could now focus on learning to be a Fencing Marshal rather than improve his fencing. We got him off the pain drugs as soon as we could, because that, damn it, is crazy talk.
He's at home with broken toes, missing skin and sutures.
I'm at work wanting to be home.
He has a follow up visit with an orthopedist today at 4:00.
But the point of this post is to talk about how our community has supported us through this whole thing.
People have fed us: anne_lj sent over a home made meal last night. Manisha and Manoj brought us home cooked indian. We have had two rounds of chocolate chip cookies. Ethan fed us the instant we got home with prime rib, and has dug up left overs from the Common house for us. indigoserenity brought us cheese and membrillo and bread.
Medicinal: There has also been bourbon & beer for the patient and wine for me from lbitw, knoggleknot and Matt. Jan has supervised me changing the bandages, with an offer of the same from Dave, and we have had a set of wheels from Keyne so he can, eventually zip around.
Visitors: shu_aland artisticphoenix have spent a day each with him while I was at work, and there has been a steady stream of people checking in on him and making sure he does not feel isolated stuck at the house, including many people on my LJ.
So thank you all. This is much easier because you are in our lives. We are both very grateful.
