That about sums it up. Though Moffat isn't quite Whedon - he does give people happy endings from time to time.

I'm even holding onto the hope that the promised tear-fest that he says the departure of the Ponds will be will actually turn out to involve bittersweet tears of sadness mixed with hope rather gut-wrenching howls of agony.

But I'm an incurable optimist in that way...

I have yet to watch it, but after watching the last episode of Pond Life, I'm really worried now. Curse you Moffat! *shakes fist*
