About the reset. I am not to hurt over the XP loss for the characters. They "fixed" the draw pool and that will help most of the characters' small pools so that they wont have to cheeze it too much. Unfortunately, we are gamers. When we see an opportunity for cheeze we typically go for it. This system is going to cause a lot of people to min/max characters
The real issue that I have with the soft reset is that it is a soft reset in just a couple of months. Characters everywhere are loosing at least half of the XP that they earned, even if it was a writeup, game, special XP (overcap) or whatever else. They are to make their old characters as close to the current ones that you can. There are some characters that just can't do that. It doesn't make sense.
If they decide to pull a hard reset, I might stay. Having all character everywhere simply one day/night understand that they can't do a lot of the things that they were able to do before makes no real sense to me. I understand that they are going to be puting story into play that will explain it, but it still means the same thing: my character now is a shadow of what it was.
If someone makes a new character, that is great. The issue with that logic is the fact that it isn't a new game. New characters in an already established game means that you are a step behind others (even NPCs) that are already there. All and all, it kinda sucks all around.
I have seen that they are (maybe) thinking about puting the bumps per three dots of MC back in. I guess that I am alright with that, but it still comes back to the same thing: why is my character a little less powerful now than he was after four years of play? The characters have done so much for the Domain as a whole, building story and interacting with NPC/PCs alike.
We are now approaching the Venue of Dim Lighting. It is no longer the World of Darkness that I started with. I am tired of VSTs having to make up all of the story in this game from nothing. I am tired of looking at the books that keep coming out and only seeing mechanics and odd stories here and there. I am tired of being in a game that doesn't seem to care too much about the players and their enjoyment in game any longer.
I think that, when the reset happens at least, I am just going to stay home for a little bit and see what I can enjoy with a couple of table top games of the Old World of Darkness. If that goes well, Shawn and I will transfer those rules to a Larp based system and see if people will like it. Ah, back to some actual story from the books that you read. No more having to explain the story of this or that, just say "well, just go ahead and look in this book. It's all there!"
