Ramblings

1- I found that being bored is a very destructive thing indeed. Now I must discipline myself through...unusual methods.

(no, I'm not becoming emo. Thank you very much.)

2- Observations on World Building: I found that entertainment is very dependent on how the culture lives. That could sound like baby-logic, but consider this:

In a country that is self-reliant for resources, where resources are pretty much for the hand to grasp, the people won't be really doing a lot of moving. Their entertainment might be confined in architectural wonders, stage-plays and culinary. Intellect and riches would be a major bonus here, for politics abound in places where everyone wants to keep it civil -relatively- and yet keep more. Law-making is abundant here for that reason.

In a country in which resources are hard to get/keep, people won't be exactly waiting for the sky to rain gold, see. Entertainment would be more focused on 'transportable enjoyment', and things like language, riding, war arts, athletics and falconry. Intellect is not on par with wisdom or strength here, for in such dog-eat-dog environments, there would be more codes of honor than laws.

Examples in ancient real life.

Ancient Greece would be a fine example for the former, with abundance of everything from apple trees to marble.
Ancient Arabia is a fine example of the latter. Poetry, honor and sport were pretty much a person's life.

Now, these are not mutually exclusive, however. With the former having a generally blooming economy and high population, there can -and there will- be poets, falconers and athletes, evidently. This serves as a basis for understanding how land shapes men.

That's all for now.

3- I am back and writing Retribution after a long hiatus. I scrapped all outlines and am starting from zero, and although there are tangents (too many, in fact), I know that conquering tangents will end with a better experience for me.

4- On World of Warcraft comics:

I have been reading those comics that Blizzard advertises every here and then, and honestly--they are not bad. For a lore geek who was brutally disappointed with in-game lore and choked to death with hints of plot holes throughout Lore, I got very relieved once I knew that the Ashbringer chronicles through Arthas's betrayal. It gave me great relief. Between that and Vanilla WoW, I would like one thing:
