Yes, it's a long title.
So I bought it.
Yes, I'm a bit slow. It's been out for (I don't know...) 4 years?!
It's still awesome. There is a huge difference between it and other fantasy RTS games which no units are different from one another.
Granted, it's a Pokemon-like design.
Warriors > Pikemen
Pikemen > Cavalry
Cavalry > Archers
Archers > Warriors
And super units which are strong vs. Everything, but are usually 3 to 9 units, unlike normal ones, which are battalions of 15 strong.
And there are Heroes. Aragorn is a classic supporter with a badass sword. Gandalf is just pure, distilled awesome, and Derrick Mace (...What? Of course I'll make a custom hero. Would any writer miss the chance to throw in his character into Middle-Earth to command the heroes of the movie?) is maximized on strength and defense, with minimum health, but that goes in accordance with my defensive battle strategies and my abusive use of Health-Increasing buildings. Derrick Mace is just custom-made for my use.
So, long review short, the game is awesome.
The story modes are painfully short, so one mostly focuses on multiplayer and skirmishes, along with the War of the Rings, but one could ponder that time spent on developing should have focused a bit more on story elements.
But then again, I'm doing self-inserting, so it's fair.
