I've heard this "I hate Christianity because of the Crusades" argument too many times to count-- two of my ex-boyfriends fed me that same nonsense. Jesus would have said the people who participated in the Crusades weren't Christians anyway, since they went around killing people in direct violation of what He taught. The whole thing was false advertising. It doesn't take a genius to look up in the scriptures, "Thou shalt not kill," and then do the math-- I don't know why they couldn't.

If there is one thing atheists who hate religion always do,
is take scripts out of context, compare attitude to altitude (wow, that sounds stylish...) and not take information from the masters. I had a discussion with a well-meaning evolutionist who took many things out of context. Many things within context of many Abrahamic religions cannot be taken out of context of the time and condition the words apply!

How could one be good with slaves if slavery was abolished? Some people see that as a paradox and cannot understand a religion for being a transcendent being.

It's gotten to where I live, you kind of have to be "don't ask, don't tell" about it if you're a Christian, because if you admit it, people assume you're a closed-minded bigot and won't have anything to do with you.

Alas, I've seen it in action. Christianity became the old thing for people these days, and is better not be pinned on the chest and announced with passion. Such is the case with a lot of things recently.

And it makes me sick. Jesus taught, "Treat other people the way you'd want to be treated." He wasn't arrogant and didn't look down on non-believers, like some atheists would have you believe-- He was a friend to everybody, including society's outcasts, right down to tax collectors. I remember hearing that Gandhi once said, "I like your Christ, but I don't like you Christians. You Christians are nothing like your Christ." That sums it up best, I think. ^_^

Gandhi is badass.
