Its nearly been a year, but im back on lj...talking about cards
When you're playing poker, have you ever been delt a hand that was one card away from a royal flush? Its always so glorious to have that nearly perfect hand, plus the anticipation and excitment of the next draw, it makes you feel just plain great... For a while. But then, when it starts nearing that next draw, happiness and excitment are suddenly joined by anxiety and self-doubt, not so much if you're just playing for shits and giggles, but if the stakes are high, you magically go from happy and eager, to worried and anxious. You start thinking "fuck, what are the odds of me pulling that one fucking card out of the god knows how many there are in there!" Then, right before you go catotonic, you suddenly realize that, ITS JUST A FUCKING GAME. So what if you lose, so what if ya gotta suck it up, and hand over the cash. Granted, it wouldn't be fun,actually it would in fact lick serious serious balls, but thats not the thing to dwell on. In fact, you shouldnt dwell on the game period, all that does is make things between you and your poker buddies awkward, which brings down the mood very fast. What you should dwell on, is the good times you're having hangin out with the people you care about, and not on some stupid fucking card game. The game of poker will be around farrrr longer than the people you play it with will be. So if i could just preach to the choir for a sec, "aka myself" and just say that the next time you decide to pick up the cards, dont wager anymore than you can handle, or you'll end up broke and miserable..... speaking of which, before the bets go any higher..I call.
