[ HOW COULD YOU NOT KNOW, SOLLUX. Ryoji holds up a box of cards, and takes them out. ]
Tarot cards are tools for answering questions about the past, present, and future. They're guides, of sorts. Humans have been going back to the deck for a very long time, now. Each card has significance and a meaning, and... well, some say it's like telling people their fortunes, but it's more like answering things you want to know.
... No. Tarot are a medium. Sure, you can use them for fun, but they're a medium. Like I said, humans have been using them for a very long time. In fact, I explained it to some of you guys earlier--I'm willing to bet each of you have an individual card that defines you most.
Tarot are like that.
Some would call the deck guides. ... I guess it depends on what you believe.
But you can't really anthwer quethtionth about the future with cardth. The patht? Thure. I mean, it'th already happened tho you can eathily get informathion about whatever happened in the patht. But unleth you're thionic, you can't tell anything about the future.
[But he smirks.]
I'll humor you though. Go ahead and find a card that defineth me, if you really bet you can.
Well, if you want to believe that, I'm not stopping you. I mean, it's just for fun, but I'd prefer to see what the deck has to say rather than argue.
[ Ryoji smiles as he pulls out his deck, shuffles the cards very, very well, places them in front of him, then picks a card off the top of the deck.
He blinks a few times, but his smile turns to a look of thoughtful curiosity. ]
Ten of Swords. Hmm... this is the Minor Arcana's suite for Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius, actually... so I'm guessing you're the Gemini troll? I think Terezi-chan explained the whole human astrology thing, right?
[ Well, he'd met Eridan and Terezi and all the others, really, so what did that leave? ]Anyway, what interests me is how dramatic this card is. I mean, it can indicate a lot of unfortunate things happening to someone in a row, but it also tends to indicate that they blow those things out of proportion and act like a victim a lot
